ftpSite Table Work

Before you render your site, you need to tell Frontier some information about where to put the rendered pages locally and information about where to send the files if you want Frontier to FTP them to your server. The #ftpSite table contains that information. Open this table in your site table to take a look at the default entries.

The first entry in the table is folder. This is the folder or directory where Frontier will store the rendered pages for your site on your hard disk. A default path was generated when you created the site table. You can keep that path, or modify it to have your pages stored in a different folder.

The next field is isLocal. When set to true, this tells Frontier to render the pages to the folder in the folder field. If this is false, Frontier then starts your FTP application (if you are on a Mac) to begin uploading the files. There are some additional fields that you will want to include if you are using FTP, and we'll talk about those in a minute.

The last default field is url. This should be the full path top-level URL that your site will use. An example is my site URL:

http://artemis.austinc.edu/acad/its/asylvester/

Frontier uses this in building relative glossary entries, so make sure that this information is correct.

If you are using FTP to move your files to your site, Frontier can help you do it on the Mac. You will need to add fields for data to give your FTP program, such as username, password, directory, etc. You will need to make separate entries for each of these in your #ftpSite table.

When you are finished with setting up the #ftpSite table, move on to the Template Work page.
